Treating the Toughest Cases of Depression and Brain Illness

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, also known as HBOT, is a medical treatment that delivers 100% oxygen to a patient’s pulmonary system while they are within a pressurized chamber. Basically, the patient breathes oxygen at levels far greater than that which is available at a normal pressure in the environment.

The increase in partial pressure of oxygen at the cellular level accelerates the healing processes and assists in the recovery from numerous conditions.

Hyperbaric Oxygen is not a “cure” for most indications but it has been clearly demonstrated to dramatically modulate immune function which benefits patients with problems ranging from chronic wounds to complex disabilities and neurological impairment.

The delivery of HBOT requires the patient to be placed into a pressure vessel, which is pressurized to values that are greater than the atmospheric pressure, while pure oxygen is delivered to the patient’s pulmonary system. Our goal is to shift the percentage of dissolved oxygen in every cell in the body to levels that are 15-20 times normal.

Hyperbaric Centers of Chicago has state-of-the-art single patient and multiple-place hyperbaric chambers and our physicians/technicians are trained in hyperbaric medicine. We have a cumulative experience base of over 50 years in hyperbaric medicine. Our goal at Hyperbaric Centers of Chicago is to provide a better quality of life for our patients in a safe and caring environment.
